The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Corps Director of Development for the Durham Corps, located in Durham, NC.

JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, develops, and coordinates all phases of donor development and the solicitation of financial support for The Salvation Army programs and services for the Corps; plans, develops and coordinates public relation programs with the media, private and public sector organizations and churches; serves as liaison to the Territorial Headquarters Planned Giving Department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of modern fund raising and public relations principles and practices.
Ability to build professional working relationships with contacts in the community.
Ability to develop effective public relations materials increasing awareness of The Salvation Army programs and services.
Ability to solicit and secure funding support from organizations, individuals, churches, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
and
Three years experience working in a fund-raising position,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: None required.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
